The article discusses the brief history of the establishment of the Kursk Regional Scientific Library named after N. N. Aseev, the fate of its building during the Great Patriotic War, and the decision to demolish it during the reconstruction of the regional center in the early post-war years. For the first time, information based on archival sources is presented regarding the selection of a new site for the construction of a new building. Existing design proposals are described, culminating in the final choice of a standard library project, as well as adjustments to its architectural and planning solutions made by architect M. L. Teplitsky from Kurskoblproekt, considering the new library's location. The periodization of the construction of the new regional library building (1960-1965) is defined, along with a stylistic characterization of the main facade design. The article also describes a late Soviet design proposal for expanding the library building, which was never realized
