INFLUENCE OF THE NOMOCANON ON THE RUSSIAN LEGISLATION OF THE XV-XVI CENTURY: A COMPARATIVE LEGAL STUDY
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The Nomocanon is a Byzantine collection of church rules with a complex structure, including many both secular and exclusively ecclesiastical acts. The norms contained in the Nomocanon formed the basis for future codified acts of the young Russian state, faced with the need to create its own set of rules. The Russian Russian legislator has been referring to the Nomocanon for many centuries: when compiling the Russian Pravda (XI-XII centuries), the Judicial Code of Ivan III (1497), the Judicial Code of Ivan IV (1550), the Cathedral Code of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich (1649). The subject of this study is the influence of the Nomocanon on Russian legislation XV-XVI centuries.
