Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article reflects the participation of the 96th Infantry Regiment as part of the 140th Infantry Division of the 4th formation in the battles for Ukraine. The combat actions of the regiment in the Chernihiv-Pripyat offensive operation, which was the first stage of the Battle of the Dnieper (August 26 — September 30, 1943), are described. An attempt is made to formalize archival data on the position of the regiment in the 14th Siberian Division. The fighting for Novgorod-Seversky is also shown. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the units of the 96th regiment could not recover from the battle on the northern face of the Kursk salient.
